Bear Sanctuary Pristina

Located outside the capital, the Bear Sanctuary provides a home for rescued brown bears that were previously kept in captivity in restaurants and private facilities. The sanctuary combines animal welfare with forested walking trails and educational exhibits.

Novo Brdo Fortress

The medieval fortress of Novo Brdo stands on a hill overlooking eastern Kosovo and was once one of the most important mining centres in the Balkans. Today, the ruins offer panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and provide insight into Kosovo's medieval past.

Rahovec wine region

The Rahovec region in western Kosovo is the centre of the country's developing wine industry. Vineyards and wineries surrounding the town produce both red and white wines, and wine tourism has grown steadily in recent years.

Brezovica

Brezovica is Kosovo's principal ski resort and attracts visitors during both winter and summer. In winter, the slopes draw skiers from across the region, while warmer months bring hiking, mountain biking and cooler mountain temperatures.

Gjakova

Gjakova is known for its Ottoman heritage and for Çarshia e Madhe, one of the oldest and longest bazaars in the Balkans. The city has a more traditional atmosphere than Pristina and is also recognised for its artisan culture and historic mosques.

Gračanica Monastery

Located near Pristina, Gračanica Monastery is one of Kosovo's most important medieval Serbian Orthodox religious sites and is protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built in the 14th century, it is known for its elegant architecture and well-preserved Byzantine frescoes.

Mirusha Waterfalls

The Mirusha Waterfalls consist of a series of waterfalls and turquoise pools located within a scenic canyon in central Kosovo. The area is popular for swimming, hiking and picnics during the warmer months.

Peja

Peja is a historic western city best known as the gateway to the Rugova Mountains. The city contains Ottoman-era architecture, lively cafés and the nearby Patriarchate of Peć, an important Serbian Orthodox monastery complex protected by UNESCO.

Pristina

Kosovo's capital is the country's political, cultural and economic centre, known for its youthful atmosphere, café culture and striking contrasts between socialist-era buildings and modern developments. Highlights include the Newborn Monument, the unusual National Library, Mother Teresa Boulevard and the Ottoman-era Imperial Mosque. Pristina's cafés and lively evening scene are central to daily life.

Prizren

Often regarded as Kosovo's most attractive city, Prizren is known for its Ottoman architecture, cobbled streets and relaxed atmosphere beneath the Sharr Mountains. The Stone Bridge, Sinan Pasha Mosque and the hilltop fortress overlooking the old town are among its main landmarks. The city also hosts the internationally recognised Dokufest documentary film festival each summer.

Rugova Valley

The Rugova Valley, near Peja in western Kosovo, is one of the country's main outdoor destinations. Steep cliffs, mountain scenery and forested landscapes attract hikers, climbers and outdoor enthusiasts. The valley also forms part of the wider Peaks of the Balkans hiking route linking Kosovo with Albania and Montenegro.

Sharr Mountains

The Sharr Mountains stretch across southern Kosovo near the border with North Macedonia and contain some of the country's most dramatic scenery. The region is popular for hiking, skiing and mountain tourism, particularly around Brezovica, Kosovo's best-known ski resort.

Visoki Dečani Monastery

Visoki Dečani Monastery, near Peja, is one of the Balkans' most significant medieval monasteries and another UNESCO World Heritage Site. Surrounded by mountains and protected by high stone walls, it is renowned for its remarkable frescoes and distinctive blend of Byzantine and Romanesque architecture.
