Where to stay in Kosovo
Kosovo offers a growing range of accommodation options, particularly in Pristina, Prizren and the main tourist areas. Visitors can choose from international-standard hotels, boutique guesthouses, apartments and budget hostels, with prices generally lower than in much of Europe.
Pristina has the country's largest concentration of hotels and serviced apartments, ranging from modern business hotels to smaller boutique properties near the city centre. Prizren is especially known for its charming guesthouses and smaller hotels set within or near the historic old town.
Mountain regions such as Rugova and the Sharr Mountains offer guesthouses, lodges and cabins popular with hikers and outdoor travellers. Rural accommodation is becoming increasingly common, often providing homemade food and a more traditional local experience.
Private apartments and short-term rentals are widely available in larger towns and cities and are commonly used by both domestic and international visitors.
Camping in Kosovo is possible in some mountain and rural areas, particularly around Rugova, the Sharr Mountains and other outdoor tourism regions. However, the country has a relatively limited network of organised campsites compared with many European destinations.
Facilities vary from basic campsites to small family-run sites with showers, electricity and simple amenities. Wild camping is practised in some remote areas, though travellers should seek permission from landowners where possible and avoid protected or sensitive areas.
Summer is generally the best period for camping, while winter camping is mainly suitable for experienced outdoor enthusiasts due to snow and colder temperatures in the mountains.
