Where to stay in Cyprus
The Republic of Cyprus offers a wide range of accommodation options, from large beachfront resorts and international hotel chains to boutique guesthouses, self-catering apartments and rural village stays. Standards are generally good throughout the country, particularly in the main tourist areas along the southern coast.
Luxury hotels and resort complexes are concentrated in destinations such as Limassol, Paphos and Ayia Napa, where many properties feature private beaches, swimming pools, spas and extensive leisure facilities. International hotel brands are widely represented, particularly in the higher-end market.
Mid-range hotels, holiday apartments and family-run guesthouses are available across the island and are especially common in coastal resort areas. Self-catering accommodation is popular with longer-stay visitors and families, particularly during the summer season.
Inland villages and the Troodos Mountains offer a quieter style of accommodation, including restored stone houses, agrotourism properties and small traditional guesthouses. These are popular with visitors seeking hiking, wine tourism and cooler temperatures away from the coast.
Camping is possible in the Republic of Cyprus, particularly in mountain and coastal areas, though the country has a relatively small campsite network compared with some parts of mainland Europe. Most organised campsites are located in the Troodos Mountains, around forest parks and near popular beach destinations.
Facilities vary from simple sites with basic amenities to larger campsites offering electricity, showers, restaurants and small shops. Camping is particularly popular during spring and autumn, when temperatures are more comfortable for outdoor activities.
Wild camping generally requires permission, especially in protected nature areas and forest parks. Visitors wishing to camp outside official campsites should seek permission from the relevant authorities or landowners where appropriate.
Summer temperatures can be extremely hot in coastal and lowland areas, making mountain regions such as the Troodos range more suitable for camping during the hottest months.
