Passports

EU nationals: Croatia is not a Schengen country, so you are required to produce evidence of your EU nationality using either a passport or a national identity card.

Non-EU nationals: To enter Croatia, you must have a valid passport issued within the past ten years and with at least six months left is required, along with a return ticket and sufficient funds for the length of stay.

Visas

EU nationals: You don't need a visa for Croatia if the stay is less than 90 days. Those who plan to stay longer will need to obtain a residence permit.

Non-EU nationals mentioned in the chart above: Americans, Australians, British and Canadians can travel to Croatia without a visa for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. This applies if you travel as a tourist, to visit family or friends, to attend business meetings, cultural or sports events. For other purposes, you need to check with the Croatian embassy, high commission or consulate in your home country on what type of visa and/or work permit you may need. Please note that Croatia is not a member of the Schengen Agreement. This means your visits to other EU or Schengen countries do not count towards your 90-day limit in Croatia. Equally, your visits to Croatia do not count towards your 90-day visa-free limit in the Schengen area.

Nationals not mentioned in the chart above: Holders of valid dual or multiple-entry Schengen visas can enter, stay and transit in or through Croatia for tourism purpose, without the need for an additional visa. Holders of a dual-entry Schengen visa must have one unused entry if travelling to Croatia. Holders of a residence permit, or certain other types of visa issued by a Schengen Area country, can also visit Croatia without requiring an additional visa. Those who require a visa should visit crovisa.mvep.hr (available in English, Russian, Ukrainian, Albanian, and Turkish language).
