Restaurants in Valletta
The Valletta restaurants below have been grouped into three price categories:
Expensive (over €50)
Moderate (€25 to €50)
Cheap (under €25)
These Valletta restaurant prices are for a one-course meal with a drink for one. Tax is included and tipping is the norm.
Rampila
Widely regarded as one of Valetta’s finest resteraunts, Rampila is fine dining with views to match. Sandwiched between ancient city walls, this is a scenic spot to sample some of the best Maltese cuisine anywhere in the country.
Giannini
Giannini is an excellent Italian/Mediterranean cuisine in a modern Valletta restaurant. Its location on top of an elevated bastion allows you to enjoy great views over the city and out to sea as you tuck into an exquisite selection that includes fresh, home-made egg pasta, carpaccio, salads, fresh fish and meat.
Rubino
Set in a century-old shop decorated in traditional Maltese style, Rubino serves up excellent modern Maltese/Mediterranean cuisine using authentic traditional recipes. Once a former confectionary shop, the restaurant is housed in a converted cellar and still retains its original façade. It is conveniently located close to the Manoel Theatre.
L'Artiglio
Nestled in the La Falconeria hotel, this restaurant serves up superb seasonal dishes and has gained rave reviews from the critics.
Caffe Cordina
Located on the city's main pedestrianised street, this charming cafe is definitely at the heart of the action. Watch the world go by as you sip a coffee or snack on a sandwich. The service may not be terribly fast but this is definitely a place for lingering.
Cheeky Monkey
Probably the best place for a juicy beef patty in Valletta, washed down with a pint of craft beer, this gastropub pulls in happy crowds who want comfort food done right. It has a good selection of cocktails too.
Is-Suq tal-Belt (Food Court)
Is-Suq tal-Belt, or commonly known as Is-Suq or the Merchant Street Market, has a good selection of food stalls. The seafood stall is ever popular, while we are partial to the freshly baked pastizz (savoury pastry).
Reno's cafe
This tiny cafe is great for a quick lunch. Order one of its Ftira (Maltese bread) sandwiches with a filling of tuna, chicken, bacon, cheese or steak.
