The information centre and welcome desk (tel: +1 904 741 4902) is situated on the lower level of the terminal building, in the baggage claim area. Ambassadors are also present to help travellers find their bearings around the airport and to provide assistance as needed.
Jacksonville International Airport can be reached from the centre of Jacksonville by taking Interstate 95 to Airport Road (exit 363-B), and then taking the westbound signposted route to the terminal. Road access from Georgia and St Augustine is also via Interstate 95.
Public Transport
Bus:Jacksonville Transport Authority (tel: +1 904 630 3100;www.jtafla.com) runs the CT3 (AirJTA) bus service from Jacksonville International Airport to central Jacksonville (journey time: 30 minutes; fare: US$1.50).
Shuttle:A number of shuttle services operate from the airport to destinations in the surrounding region, including Go Airport Shuttle (+1 844 787 1670; www.goairportshuttle.com). A full list of providers is available on the airport’s website.
Taxi:Gator City Taxis (tel: +1 904 999 9999) is the official taxi company serving the airport. Taxis can be found at the airport entrance. The one-way fare to central Jacksonville starts at around US$25.
Terminal facilities
ATMs are available on the lower level after baggage reclaim and on the upper level before the security checkpoint.
Free Wi-Fi internet access is provided throughout the terminal building. Courtesy telephones are also available, while pre-paid phone cards are available from the River City Travel Mart. Postal facilities, including a stamp machine, post box and FedEx drop box, are situated in the JAX Business Centre in the upper level central courtyard, after the security area.
There are numerous bars, coffee shops, snack bars and restaurants at Jacksonville International Airport. These can be found on the upper level courtyard and in the concourses. Among the options is a grill restaurant in concourse A, a hot dog stand in the public area and a Tex-Mex eatery post-security.
There are various newsagents/bookshops and gift shops at Jacksonville International Airport, as well as specialist shops such as a fashion outlet, DVD rental and a golf shop. Shops are located on both levels and in the mezzanine area.
Trolleys are available for a small fee. Lockers are located in the JAX Business Centre on the upper level. Contact the on-site Lost & Found Office (tel: +1 904 741 2022) for enquiries about lost items or to report found possessions.
Airport facilities
There is an executive meeting room (tel: +1 904 741 2006) that seats up to 17 delegates located within the terminal complex offering full video/teleconferencing capabilities.
Away from the terminal, the Jacksonville Airport Hotel (tel: +1 904 741 1997;www.jacksonvilleflairporthotel.com), which is located within the airport grounds, boasts a business centre and 12 meeting rooms as well as office workstations and videoconferencing facilities.
Hourly and daily parking is available at the multi-storey car park next to the terminal building. Daily parking is available in a surfaced car park in front of the terminal and there are also three long-term economy parking areas. Visitors awaiting incoming passengers can park in the courtesy waiting area, near the administration building. Valet parking is available in front of the terminal building, 24 hours a day (tel: +1 904 741 3900).
Car hire companies with representation at Jacksonville International Airport include: Alamo-National, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz and Thrifty. Car hire desks are located on the lower level of the terminal building; next to the baggage reclaim area.
The Crowne Plaza, which is a short complimentary shuttle ride from the airport, has an on-site restaurant, internet café and bar to enjoy. Additionally, meeting space is available for hire.
Just 3km (2 miles) from Jacksonville International Airport, the Courtyard offers an airport shuttle service and guest parking. Other facilities include an on-site restaurant, fitness centre and a swimming pool.
The best local option for business travellers, the Jacksonville Airport Hotel is located within the grounds of Jacksonville International Airport and only a short walk (or even shorter shuttle ride) from the terminal entrance. Aside from extensive conference and business facilities, the hotel also boasts Wi-Fi access, on-site parking and a large restaurant.
A good option for those on a budget, the Microtel Inn and Suites is very near to Jacksonville International Airport and is linked to the terminal building by a shuttle bus service. Hotel facilities include an outdoor pool, meeting room and fitness centre.
The Fairfield Inn can arrange a courtesy shuttle bus to Jacksonville International Airport, which is just 3km (2 miles) away. The hotel has a range of business facilities, including meeting space, a pool and a car parking area.
The Hilton Garden Inn is located near Jacksonville International Airport – to which a complimentary shuttle bus transports passengers to the terminal building. There is an on-site swimming pool, restaurant and a business centre, which is available 24 hours a day.
