Airport news

Aberdeen Airport's £20 million transformation took off in May 2016. The redevelopment will include a 50% extension of the existing terminal. Completion of the project is due in 2019.

The airport information point is located in the main terminal concourse, opposite domestic baggage reclaim and to the immediate right of the entrance.

Driving directions

Aberdeen International Airport is easily accessible from the A96 Aberdeen-Inverness road. From central Aberdeen, follow the A96 in the direction of Inverness (northbound) and turn off onto Dyce Drive where signposted. Continue on this road until Argyll Road, which leads to the airport site. The total drive time from Aberdeen city centre to the airport is approximately 25 minutes.

Public Transport

Public transport rail

Dyce station, served by train services linking Aberdeen to Elgin and Inverness, is a 4km (2.5-mile) drive from Aberdeen Airport. Passengers can catch a taxi there. The journey time to Aberdeen is 30 minutes by train from Dyce station. Trains from Dyce run approximately every 20 minutes Monday through Saturday and less frequently on Sundays. Public transport road

Bus services depart from Aberdeen International Airport going to Aberdeen city centre. Bus trips take around 35 minutes, depending on the traffic. Jet 727 operated by Stagecoach (www.stagecoachbus.com) is the premier bus service that takes passengers directly from the airport terminal to the Aberdeen Union Square bus station. Service 16 operated by First Aberdeen (0345 646 0707, www.firstgroup.com) takes passengers to Guild street in central Aberdeen. Bus schedules and fares are subject to change, with services offered less frequently on weekends and evenings.

Taxis services are available from Aberdeen International Airport. ComCab (01224 353 535, www.comcab-aberdeen.co.uk) operates a taxi service from Aberdeen International Airport, with booking available online, by phone or at the central reservation office located to the right of the main terminal building. Fares cost around £15-£20 to the city centre, and the journey time is about 20 minutes, depending on traffic. A meet-and-greet service and executive cars are also available.

Money

ATMs are situated before and after security. There is also a bureau de change that sells travel insurance: currency can be pre-ordered online and picked-up at the airport through Travelex (08458 727 627, www.travelex.co.uk).

Communication

Free Wi-Fi internet access is available throughout the terminal and numerous payphones within the terminal.

Food

There are bars and coffee shops both before and after the security screening area, as well as a restaurants in the public area.

Shopping

Among the shops at Aberdeen International Airport are bookshops, a pharmacy and an art gallery. A duty-free shop sells a range of goods for passengers leaving the EU. Those wishing to purchase items while departing the airport can make use of the shopping collection service, which allows customers to pick up their purchases upon return.

Luggage

Left-luggage and lost property services are available from a desk in the check-in area. The lost and left property services are operated by G4S. For lost and left property inquiries, email prm.aberdeen@uk.g4s.com. Luggage trolleys are positioned at key points in and around the terminal.

Other

Other facilities at Aberdeen International Airport include mother and baby rooms before and after security. The children's play area is currently undergoing changes as a part of the airport's Terminal Transformation project. An airside smoking area is available after security by the main departure lounge near gate 5. Access to the airside smoking facility costs £1.

Business facilities are available at The Northern Lights Executive Lounge, with adult tickets costing £25. British Airways and Eastern Airways also operate airline lounges situated in the departures area.

Aberdeen International Airport has unisex wheelchair-accessible toilets before and after security. Induction loops are fitted throughout the terminal building, all public facilities are wheelchair friendly, and all levels of the Departure Lounge are accessible by lift or ramp.

Wheelchair push and provision, and help with baggage before check-in, is available free of charge to disabled passengers. Passengers requiring special assistance should contact their airline, tour operator, or travel agent at least 48 hours before arrival.

Car parking

There are two main car parks at Aberdeen International Airport: the short-term car park is situated in front of the terminal building, and the long-term car park is off Forties Road and is linked by a courtesy bus to the terminal. Car rental

Car hire operators present at Aberdeen International Airport include: Alamo, Avis, Enterprise, Europcar, Hertz, Sixt and National. Desks for these companies are located in the Car Hire Building, outside the terminal.
