Driving directions

London Stansted Airport is situated next to junction 8a of the M11 motorway (which connects southwards to London) and less than 20 minutes away from junction 27 of the M25 motorway (which circles the city).

Public transport rail

Rail: By far the easiest way to get to the airport, Stansted Airport railway station is located directly beneath the terminal building. The Stansted Express rail service (tel: +44 345 600 7245; www.stanstedexpress.com) runs to London Liverpool Street Station (journey time: 50 minutes; fare: £23.40), stopping at Tottenham Hale for tube connections to London’s West End. CrossCountry Trains (tel: +44 844 811 0124; www.crosscountrytrains.co.uk) operates services to the Midlands and beyond. Public transport road

Coach:The coach station is located in front of the terminal forecourt. National Express (tel: +44 0371 781 8181; www.nationalexpress.com) coach services operate to London Victoria (journey time: 105 minutes; fare: £12.00), London Liverpool Street and Stratford (journey time: 45-60 minutes; fare: £7), and other destinations. Easybus (www.easybus.co.uk) route EB2 connects to London Baker Street (journey time: 75 minutes; fare: from £6). The Terravision Express Shuttle (www.terravision.eu) provides a non-stop service to London Victoria (journey time: 75 minutes; fare: from £6) – other Terravision services are available to Liverpool Street Station and Stratford. Taxi:Taxis, operated by 24x7 (tel: +44 1279 661 111; www.24x7stansted.com), are available to London and elsewhere, departing from outside the terminal building. The journey time to central London is around 60 minutes and the fare is approximately £100.

ATMs and bureaux de change are located both pre- and post security.

Communication

Wireless internet access (free for up to 60 minutes) is available throughout the terminal, pay-for internet kiosks (including printing services) are also available at various points in the terminal, both pre- and post-security. There are postboxes for letters, while stamps are available at the popular newsagent chain in check-in Zone C and the international arrivals area.

Food

There are various restaurants, cafés and bars before and after security at London Stansted Airport. These include Italian restaurants, a sushi bar, fast-food outlets and a British-style pub.

Shopping

There are numerous shops throughout the terminal, which range from duty-free outlets (for passengers leaving the EU) and designer shops to newsagents. A free shopping collection service is available for passengers travelling within the EU.

Luggage

There is a left-luggage facility and lost property service (tel: +44 844 824 3109) at the airport desk in the international arrivals hall.

Other

Other available facilities at London Stansted Airport include a multifaith chapel, located in check-in Zone J, Baby changing areas and showers, available to use free of charge and found in both the arrivals and departures areas.

Conference and business

The United Business Centre (tel: 0800 169 9822; www.unitedbusinesscentres.co.uk), which is open Monday to Friday, is a short drive from the terminal (courtesy transportation is available on request) and has meeting rooms with space for up to 30 people. The No. 1 Business Lounges, which offer complimentary drinks, newspapers and Wi-Fi access, are bookable via the airport website.

Disabled facilities

Ramps, lifts and escalators link all levels of the terminal building, including the station. There are wheelchair-accessible toilets throughout London Stansted Airport. All telephones are fitted with induction couplers and hearing loops, and TDD telephones are also installed within the terminal. Passengers requiring a wheelchair or assistance boarding the aircraft should contact their airline prior to travel.

Reserved parking is provided for disabled visitors – courtesy transfer shuttles to the car parks are wheelchair accessible. All trains serving London Stansted Airport are also equipped with facilities for disabled passengers, but some coaches are not accessible so passengers should check with the individual provider before beginning their journey.

Car parking

There is short-, mid- and long-term car parking at London Stansted Airport. The short-term parking is located very close to the terminal building, while mid- and long-term parking is further away – these areas are connected to the terminal via regular coach services. All airport parking can be reserved on the airport’s website, while long-term stays can also be booked via Pink Elephant Parking (tel: +44 333 577 0942; www.pinkelephantparking.com). Parking for motorcycles is free in the designated ‘D’ zone of the long-stay car park. Valet parking is also available.
