Getting around Alderney

Private taxi companies operate on the island. Try A1 Taxis (tel: 44 1481 824 182) or Central Taxis (tel: +44 7781 100 830).
Bicycle hire: There are several firms that hire out bicycles at daily or weekly rates, incluiding Cycle & Surf (tel: + 1481 822 286; www.cycleandsurf.co.uk).
The AA (www.theaa.com) and RAC (www.rac.co.uk) are able to provide a full range of services to UK members touring the UK. These organisations can also assist people who are travelling from abroad with maps, tourist information and specially marked routes to major events or places of interest.
National driving licences are valid for one year. Drivers must have Third Party insurance and vehicle registration documents.
The Channel Islands’ only working railway operates every Saturday, Sunday and on Bank Holidays from Easter to the end of September. The train leaves from Braye Station (tel: +44 7911 739 572; www.alderneyrailway.com)
