There are 10 information desks positioned around the terminal building in both the domestic and international areas.

Transfer between terminals

A free, 24-hour shuttle bus operates between the terminal and car parks, as well as the on-site Novotel hotel.

Driving directions

Road access to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport is provided by five motorways connected to Bangkok's outer ring road.

From central Bangkok, take the Sirat Expressway toll road east out of the city and join the motorway. This road directly passes the airport site and has a dedicated turn off. The total drive time from Bangkok to the airport is approximately 30 minutes.

Public Transport

Public transport rail

Rail:Airport Rail Link (tel: +66 2 308 5600; www.srtet.co.th) runs from a station immediately beneath the terminal building. Fast services include the Phaya Thai Express Line, which goes non-stop to Phaya Thai Station in the city centre (journey time: 17 minutes; fare: ฿150).

A slower city train, which stops at seven stations and takes a little under 30 minutes, is also operational (fare: ฿45).

Public transport road

Bus:Bus BMTA (tel: +66 2 246 4262) from the Public Transport Centre offers five routes into Bangkok. The journey time to the city centre averages at around 45 minutes and the fare starts at ฿24. There is additionally a regular free shuttle bus service connecting Suvarnabhumi with Bangkok's other airport, Don Mueang.

Local buses run from the Public Transport Centre, which is reached via a shuttle bus. Routes connect to various destinations in Bangkok.

Shuttle:There is also a public van service (tel: +66 2 134 0171) which operates fixed routes at regular intervals to a number of destinations in and around the city.

Taxi:Taxis are available outside Arrivals. It is advisable to book taxis (tel: +66 2 132 9199) at the service counters, or queue in the official taxi rank where fixed rate prices are offered. There is a fee of ฿50 to be paid to the driver in addition to the fare, which averages at about ฿300-350. It is advisable to avoid touts.

Money

Bureaux de change, banks and ATMs are located throughout the terminal building.

Communication

Wi-Fi internet access (free for the first two hours) is available throughout Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport's terminal building. There are also PCs in the terminal offering 15 minutes of free internet use at a time, as well as an internet cafe. Additionally, public telephones are situated on all levels. Postal facilities are located on levels 2 and 4.

Food

There are numerous fast food outlets, bars and restaurants at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport. These can be found on levels 3 and 4. In addition, there are four restaurants and two bars in the nearby Novotel (tel: +66 2 131 1111; www.novotel.com).

Shopping

Shops selling everything from freshly cut flowers to designer clothing are available on levels 2, 3 and 4 of the terminal building. Duty-free shops are also on these levels, with most located on the main departures level (level 4). VAT refunds are available for departing international passengers.

Luggage

Luggage trolleys are available in the arrivals and departures halls. A left luggage service is available on levels 2 and 4 (tel: +66 2 134 7795). A lost property counter (tel: +66 2 132 1880), assisting with queries regarding misplaced luggage in the terminal, is situated on level 4.

Other

A wide variety of facilities are available in the terminal building, including traditional Thai massage and spa facilities. There are three medical clinics (tel: +66 2 132 7777) available on levels 1, 2 and 3. Muslim prayer rooms are located on level 2 of the terminal building. There is also a playground for families.

Airport facilities

Conference and business

There is a business centre at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport offering a variety of services, including meeting room hire. CIP airline lounges (tel: +66 2 134 6284) are located on level 3, some of which offer a range of services to first and business class travellers, including private meeting rooms and state-of-the-art video and visual entertainment facilities, as well as showers.

Extensive meeting and conference facilities are also available at the nearby Novotel Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport hotel (tel: +66 2 131 1111; www.novotel.com).

Disabled facilities

A good range of facilities and assistance is available to disabled passengers, from lifts and accessible toilets to dedicated parking spaces.

Car parking

Short-term parking is available immediately opposite the main terminal building. Long-term parking is further away from the terminal, adjacent to the Public Transport Centre. Parking information is available (tel: +66 2 132 1888).

Car rental

The car hire service counter is situated outside the international arrivals area. Avis, Budget, Sixt, National, Hertz, Europcar and several local operators are represented at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport. Hire cars should be returned to the Car Rental Service Office in the Public Transport Centre.

Hotels

There is one on-site hotel at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (the Novotel Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport hotel), which is located in front of the passenger terminal. There is also a “sleeping box” hotel in the airport. Another hotel is a short drive away. There is a greater selection of hotels, catering to all budgets and tastes, in Bangkok itself.
