The largest international airport in Switzerland, Zurich Airport is located a short distance from Zurich, in the north of the country. Information

The airport’s Service Centre is the main point of contact for all enquiries. Information desks are located in Arrivals 1 and 2, at car park 2, in Check-in area 2 and in the Airside Centre. FASTpoint terminals, located throughout the airport, provide airport maps, information on shops and restaurants, flight and train schedules, as well as a range of other services.

Transfer between terminals

The Skymetro, an automated underground people mover, links the Gates E satellite building with the main airport complex.

Driving directions

From central Zurich, take route 1L to the northbound E60/E41, turning shortly thereafter onto the A51 toll road, which leads directly past the airport site.

Public Transport

Public transport rail

Rail:Zurich Airport has a Swiss Federal Railways station (tel: +41 900 300 300; www.sbb.ch) located under the Airport Center in the check-in 3 area, with trains to central Zurich (journey time: 10 minutes) and many destinations across Switzerland. Ticket machines are located in the customs halls.

Tram:Glattalbahn tram 10 (tel: +41 44 809 5600; www.vbg.ch) operates between Zurich Central Station and Zurich Airport, although this route is slower than by rail (journey time: 40 minutes).

Public transport road

Bus:The bus terminal is located next to the P2 car park; several regular bus lines (tel: +41 848 988 988; www.zvv.ch) serve regional towns and villages.

Coach:A coach network connects Zurich Airport to destinations all over Switzerland, including major ski resorts.

Taxi:Taxis (tel: +41 848 850 852) are located outside the arrivals areas (journey time: 20 minutes; fare: from CHF70).

Terminal facilities

Money

There are banks, which also provide bureau de change services, at various points within the airport complex. Separate bureaux de change kiosks are also available.

Communication

Wi-Fi internet access (for up to two hours) is available throughout Zurich Airport. Fixed internet kiosks are also available at various points – the first two hours is also free of charge at these points. There is a post office and nine FASTpoint terminals providing telephone, fax and photocopying facilities.

Food

A good selection of restaurants, coffee shops, snack bars and takeaway facilities are available in the pre- and post-security areas of the airport. Among these are a Swiss chalet-style restaurant and a sports bar in the departures area, and an Italian restaurant and eateries specialising in Asian cuisine.

Shopping

There is a large selection of shops at Zurich Airport, including duty-free outlets. The Airport Shopping Centre, one level above check-in area 3, has some good places to browse; while extensive shopping choices can be found landside, including fashion boutiques, newsagents and gift shops.

Luggage

There is a lost property office in arrivals hall 1 (tel: +41 900 571 015). A porter service (tel: +41 438 166 707) is available to assist passengers with their luggage, while trolleys can be used free of charge. There is a left-luggage desk (tel: +41 438 163 500) and lockers to stow baggage in Arrivals.

Other

Other available facilities at Zurich Airport include a medical and dental centre, pharmacies, prayer rooms and nurseries. Bicycle and baby buggy rental is available, while showers are available both pre- and post-security.

Airport facilities

Conference and business

Fax and photocopying facilities are available in the service centre on the first floor of the P2 car park. The upper two floors of the old control tower can also be rented for receptions.

There are currently no conference facilities at Zurich International Airport but several local hotels, including the on-site Radisson Blu Zurich Airport Hotel (tel: +41 44 800 4040; www.radissonblu.com), offer meeting rooms. A number of lounges in Zurich Airport are available for first- and business-class passengers, as well as customers of particular airlines or holders of lounge-access cards.

Disabled facilities

Facilities for disabled passengers include accessible toilets and telephone booths, ramps and lifts. There are special assistance desks in the departure halls for travellers with specific needs; passengers using this service should report no later than 90 minutes before departures. Passengers requiring wheelchairs and special assistance should also inform their airline prior to travel.

Designated parking spaces are available in car parks P1, P2 and P3 for disabled badge holders.

Car parking

There are three multistorey car parks (P1, P2 and P3) directly connected to the terminal, and a further short-term car park (P6) a short distance away. The open-air P60 car park provides remote long-term parking and is linked to Zurich Airport by bus. Valet parking is offered by a number of companies including Airport Parking (tel: +41 900 000 110).

Car rental

International car hire companies: Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Europcar, Hertz, National and Sixt are represented at the airport, along with a few local operators. Desks for these companies are located in the Airport Centre, on level 1.

Hotels

The one on-site hotel at Zurich Airport is directly linked to the terminal building. A number of other hotels can be found nearby, many of which offer shuttle services to and from the terminal complex.

This relatively new hotel (opened in 2014) houses 235 rooms and a large restaurant. The distinctive cross-shaped building is just 2km (1.2 miles) from the airport. Conference facilities and a fitness centre are also available.
