Venice Marco Polo Airport is 15 minutes from the Venice/Mestre A57 motorway exit. If arriving from Venice, take Ponte della Libertà westwards and turn onto the northbound SS14 road towards Trieste. From here, follow signs for the airport.
Public Transport
Rail:Venice-Mestre railway station (www.rfi.it) is connected to the airport by the ATVO Fly Bus (tel: +39 04 215 944; www.atvo.it) and the ACTV bus 15 (tel: +39 04 1272 2111; www.actv.it). Trains connect to numerous destinations in Italy and further afield.
Bus:There are scheduled ACTV bus services to Padua, Mestre and Venice (tel: +39 04 1272 2111; www.actv.it). Bus 5 runs to Piazzale Roma square in the city (journey time: 20 minutes; fare: €8). The ATVO Fly Bus (tel: +39 04 215 944; www.atvo.it) also links the airport to the centre (journey time: 50 minutes; fare: €8).
Taxi:Taxis to Venice city centre are available from Radiotaxi (tel: +39 04 15964; www.radiotaxivenezia.com). Taxis to Padua, and shared taxis are also available.
Water:Alilaguna (tel: +39 04 1240 1715; www.venicelink.com) operates water taxi services between the airport docks and Venice, Murano, Burano, and Lido (journey time to Venice: 75 minutes; fare: €15). A 24-hour motorboat service is available from Consorzio Motoscafi Venezia (tel: +39 04 1240 6712 Mon-Fri/ +39 04 1522 2303 Sat-Sun; www.motoscafivenezia.it).
Terminal facilities
Complimentary Wi-Fi internet access is available for six hours throughout Venice Marco Polo Airport, along with a number of fixed internet kiosks. There is a post office, which also provides currency exchange and fax services, in the public area on the ground floor.
There is a small selection of bars, cafés and restaurants at Venice Marco Polo Airport. Among the options are traditional Italian espresso bars and a self-service restaurant.
Most of the shops at the airport are located in Departures and include duty-free for travellers leaving the EU. Items on offer include fashion and giftware, along with local food and drink products.
Left-luggage facilities (tel: +39 04 1260 5043) are located in the public area. A lost property office (tel: +39 04 1260 9222) can be found in Arrivals. Porters and luggage transport services (tel: +39 04 171 3719) are also available.
Airport facilities
The Travelex Business Centre (tel: +39 04 1269 8191; www.travelex.it) on the second floor has meeting rooms and conference halls, as well as individual workstations, secretarial support and translation services. There are also VIP lounges on the same floor, with telephone, video, projector and fax facilities.
There are both long- and short-term car parks at the airport, located a short distance from the terminal. The short-term car park is located directly opposite the airport terminal. International car hire companies represented at the airport include: Auto Europa, Avis, Europcar, Hertz, Maggiore and Sixt, along with a number of local operators. These operators each have desks in the arrivals area.
Set in pretty gardens a short distance from Venice Marco Polo Airport, the 4-star Parkhotel Annia offers contemporary décor in traditional surrounds. A 24-hour airport transfer is available to guests, who can also make use of the on-site restaurant, free Wi-Fi access and complimentary parking.
A little further from the airport (3km/2 miles), the luxurious Antony Hotel is a comfortable option, offering regular shuttles to the terminal and the docks. Meeting rooms are available, as is a restaurant.
Just 900m (984 yards) from Venice Marco Polo Airport, Courtyard Venice Airport runs complimentary shuttles to and from the terminal. The hotel has meeting rooms and a fitness suite. Italian fare is served in the hotel’s Da Mario restaurant.
Linked to the nearby airport by a shuttle bus, the Titian Inn offers 3-star accommodation and features a terrace and Wi-Fi internet access. There is no on-site restaurant; however, the hotel serves a buffet breakfast and a pizzeria is located only a short walk from the hotel.
Boasting a business centre, bar and garden, Hotel Venice Resort is in the nearby village of Tessera. Airport transfers are available on request.
