Located near the Black Sea coast in eastern Bulgaria, Burgas Airport - sometimes spelt Bourgas - is the second busiest airport in the country. Our Burgas Airport guide includes information on terminal facilities, public transportation options and nearby hotels, as well as important contact details.
There are information desks and tourist information outlets in the public area of the terminal; English is generally spoken.
From central Burgas and the resorts to the south, follow the 9/E87 main road north. The route passes immediately in front of the airport complex.
Public Transport
Bus: Public bus 15 runs regular services into Burgas, stopping at the central bus station. The bus departs from outside the terminal complex and takes approximately 20 minutes to reach central Burgas (fare: from лв1-10). Timetables can be found at www.bgrazpisanie.com.
Shuttle: Several operators offer pre-bookable shuttle service, and most resorts in the area provide pre-arranged shuttle connections with Burgas Airport.
Taxi:Taxis are readily available outside Arrivals. The journey time into Burgas is approximately 15 minutes, and the official taxi concessionaire is Eko-Taxi (tel: +359 56 872 777; www.ekotaxiburgas.com), who also have a desk within Arrivals. Prices to Burgas and Sunny Beach vary between лв29 and лв39.
Terminal facilities
ATMs and bureaux de change are located within the terminal complex. A bank can be found in the public area of arrivals.
Free Wi-Fi internet access is available throughout Burgas Airport. Additionally, payphones are situated at various points within the airport concourses.
There is a fast-food outlet close to the arrivals terminal, while the departures terminal offers a small choice of cafés/bars and snack bars.
There is a selection of shops at Burgas Airport, some of which offer duty-free for passengers travelling outside the EU. As well as the usual choice of alcohol, tobacco, perfume and luxury goods, it's also possible to shop for local specialities and gifts.
A 24-hour lost property office (tel: +359 56 870 273) operates in the arrivals terminal. Luggage trolleys are free of charge. A baggage wrapping service can be found in the departures terminal. Left-luggage lockers are not available at Burgas Airport.
Airport facilities
There are no conference facilities at Burgas Airport, but there is a VIP lounge (tel: +359 56 870 266) providing basic business service such as internet access and printing and fax facilities, as well as dedicated parking spaces for customers; this must be pre-booked and is only available for a fee.
Conference facilities are available at the nearby Atlantis Resort and Spa (tel: +359 56 872 772; www.atlantisresort-bg.com), and at larger hotels and resorts in the wider region.
Facilities for the physically disabled include reserved parking spaces, specially adapted toilets and wheelchair provision. Burgas Airport is equipped with ramps in all areas, and there is a lift for transfers to and from aircrafts. A telephone help point is located outside the departures terminal for those seeking assistance. Any passengers who may require additional assistance are advised to contact their airline before travelling.
The main car park at Burgas Airport is located within walking distance of the terminals. The first 10 minutes of parking is free of charge for passengers.
Car hire companies at Burgas Airport include: Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, Sixt and Top Rent a Car. Car hire desks are located in the public area of the arrivals terminal.
The Mirana Hotel, which is located in the town of Sarafovo near Burgas Airport, is a reasonably priced hotel with a pool, full-service restaurant, room service and internet access.
