Airport news

The airport's management have stated that the renovation of the now closed Terminal 2 will not be completed until at least 2017.

Information desks can be found in the check-in areas and at the bus station. The airport has a 24-hour flight information service (tel: +43 1 7007 22233).

Transfer between terminals

Three of the four terminals are built directly next to one another, except for Terminal 1A, which is located opposite Terminal 1.

Driving directions

The quickest route from the city centre to the airport is via the A4, which leads from the city in a south-eastward direction. This road directly passes the airport, exit at junction 13 and follow the road to the terminal complex. The total drive time from the city centre to the airport is approximately 20 minutes.

Public Transport

Public transport rail

Rail:The City Airport Train (tel: +43 1 25250; www.cityairporttrain.com) runs to the City Air Terminal at Wien Mitte station in central Vienna (journey time: 16 minutes; fare: €12).

Public transport road

Bus:Vienna Airport Lines' (www.postbus.at) bus 1185 runs between the airport and city centre (journey time: 22 minutes; fare: €8). Bus 1187 serves Westbahnhof railway station (journey time: 45 minutes; fare €8) and Meidling Bahnhof (journey time: 30 minutes). Bus 1183 serves other destinations in the city, including Stadion Center and Hotel NH Danube City. Buses depart from outside the central arrivals hall.

Taxis:Taxis from the airport are offered by a range of providers, including Airport Driver (tel: +43 1 22822; www.airportdriver.at) and Flughafentaxi (tel: +43 1 7007 33141; www.flughafentaxi.at). Taxis to the city leave from outside the central arrivals hall and fares start at around €25 (but the average fare is approximately €33), and the journey time is generally around 20 minutes, depending on traffic.

Terminal facilities

Money

Banks and foreign exchange services are available in the departures and public areas of the terminal. There are also numerous ATMs throughout the airport.

Communication

Free Wi-Fi internet access is available throughout Vienna International Airport. Public telephones are also dotted throughout the various terminals.

Food

A wide range of cafés, snack bars, restaurants and bars can be found within the terminal, both before and after the security checkpoints.

Shopping

There are more than 70 shops offering a wide variety of gifts, designer clothing and general souvenirs, including duty-free outlets for those travelling outside the European Union.

Luggage

Baggage porters are available on request at a small charge. Luggage trolleys are also available. There is a 24-hour left-luggage facility (tel: +43 1 7007 22207) and safety deposit boxes in the main arrivals area. A lost property service (tel: +43 1 7007 22233) is on hand to deal with lost or found items.

Other

There is a 24-hour emergency medical service (tel: +43 1 7007 22245) that can deal with emergencies throughout the airport. Chapels are situated in the departure area of Check-in 1 and public area of Check-in 3.

Airport facilities

Conference and business

The VIP Terminal houses meeting rooms and conference facilities (tel: +43 1 7007 23300). The NH Vienna Airport hotel (tel: +43 1 701 510;www.nh-hotels.com) also has meeting facilities, as part of the Office Park complex.

Additionally, there are 10 executive lounges within the departure areas. These offer facilities such as showers, refreshments and work space.

Disabled facilities

Disabled toilets, lifts and accessible telephones are available within the terminal. Wheelchair provision and assistance should be requested prior to arrival.

Disabled parking spaces are available in long-term car parks P3, P4 and C, as well as short-term car park K3. Half-price parking rates apply to those with the relevant permits or identification – contact the airport parking office (tel: +43 1 7007 22886) for more information.

Any passengers who may require additional assistance are advised to contact their airline before travelling.

Car parking

There are five car parks with space for more than 20,000 vehicles in total. The short-term K1 (for drop-off) and K3 (for pick-up) car parks are directly opposite the terminal. The long-term multistorey car parks P3 and P4 are connected to the terminals, while car park C is opposite the Office Park.

The Easy Parking Service (www.viennaairport.com/easyparking) allows passengers to drop off their cars behind Terminal 3 and have it parked by airport staff members.

Car rental

Car hire companies: Avis, Buchbinder, Budget, Enterprise, Europcar, Hertz, Megadrive, Sixt and Thrifty are represented at Vienna International Airport, with desks located in the car rental centre on level 0 of multistorey car park P4.

Hotels

There is one on-site hotel at Vienna International Airport; this is located directly opposite the terminal building. A range of major hotels is available in the city centre, some of which offer a shuttle service for arriving and departing guests.

The stylish 500-room NH Vienna Airport Hotel is located directly opposite the terminal buildings at Vienna International Airport. The hotel has its own restaurant and provides event space for up to 600 delegates.
