Platja d'en Bossa Beach

The great appeal of Platja d'en Bossa, one of the most popular resorts on Ibiza, is the longest beach on the island and its location. Its proximity to the airport suits package holidaymakers who want a short transfer time and it is also very close to Ibiza Town, with its many attractions. The resort is low-rise, man-made and boasts several family attractions.

Beach

Stretching for 2.7km (1.7 miles), the eponymous fine golden beach of Platja d'en Bossa is the longest on the island, albeit quite narrow (some 20m to 30m wide). There are several beach bars pumping out Balearic Beats throughout the day, the most famous and raucous being Bora Bora. The southern end of the beach, away from Ibiza Town, is quieter and less crowded. All watersports are available. For a complete change of scenery, the beautiful official naturist beach of Platja d'Es Cavallet is just 3km (2 miles) south. A short walk from here, unspoiled Las Salinas (Platja de Migjorn) is the most fashionable beach catwalk on Ibiza. Both beaches are very popular with the gay community.

Beyond the beach

Dance the morning away at Space (opens at 0800) (on the beach next to the water park). The Ibiza Club de Campo (www.ibizaclubdecampo.es) offers eight tennis courts, five-a-side football, squash, gym, sauna and swimming pool. The Salines saltpans (3km/2 miles south), shimmering in the Ibizan sunshine, are an unusual sight worth seeing, particularly at sunset.

Family fun

On the beachfront road, Aguamar is the biggest water park on the island. It is very popular and attracts visitors from all over the island. The Bowling Centre (Calle Murtra) comprises a four-lane bowling alley, mini golf, pool tables, trampolines, arcade games, and a mechanical Rodeo-style bull.

Exploring further

A visit to beautiful Ibiza Town, only 10 minutes away by bus, is a must, both by day and by night. The Dalt Vila (High Town/Old Town) is a striking atmospheric walled ensemble including a couple of museums and the cathedral. Below, the port offers some of the best and certainly the most cosmopolitan shopping, nightlife, bars and restaurants in the Balearics. The island is small so anywhere is within easy reach by car. A boat trip to peaceful Formentera (from Ibiza Town) is highly recommended.

Splashing out

You'll have to get out of Platja d'en Bossa to find somewhere really special for the evening. There are lots of great places in Ibiza Town but for a fabulous Moroccan-themed night out with a gourmet restaurant and sophisticated sounds afterwards head 5km (3 miles) west to KM5 (www.km5-lounge.com).
